If you have been searching for the most natural, fresh goats milk melt and pour (glycerine) soap base on the market, then this product is for you. This is a coconut oil soap base with fresh goats milk (not powdered) added. The fresh goats milk is sourced from a small farm in the North Island of New Zealand.
Crafted in NZ, this white soap base contains only natural ingredients. It provides an excellent skin feel and is very high lather. Perfect for those with sensitive/dry skin but also cleansing enough to use on oilier skin. It is a true all-rounder.
To Melt: Chop into small 2cm cubes and melt in a Pyrex jug in the microwave on short 20-30 second bursts or on a double-boiler. Do not leave unattended (watch it carefully) as this base melts very quickly. Please also note that (just like coconut oil) this base will be clear when melted and white when solid.
Colouring your base: This base accepts colourants readily, just keep in mind that its base colour is white. This means that colours you add will be pastel in the end product. Also, due to the fact that it includes fresh goats milk, there may be some orange flakes (the fat from the milk) in the final product.
If you just want a pure and natural soap, just chop it off the block as you need it – no need to add any fragrances or colour.
Odour: Mildly sweet.
Vegan Status: Not vegan due to the goats milk.
Melting Point: 45-55 °C.
Product Consistency: This is a very hard and brittle base. Take care when un-moulding small or intricate soaps – we recommend freezing them for 30 minutes prior.
Decomposition Point: 150°C. Do not over-heat this base as it is a natural product made from oils and will begin to smoke if you heat it above this point.
pH: 7.8-8.5. This is quite low for soap and will not strip your skin like higher pH soaps.
Packaging: Cellophane (derived from trees) and sticky tape plus a label.
