If you have been searching for the most natural hemp oil melt and pour (glycerine) soap base on the market, then this product is for you.
Crafted in NZ, this translucent soap base contains only natural ingredients. It provides an excellent skin feel and is an absolute pleasure to use. Perfect for those with sensitive/dry skin but also cleansing enough to use on oilier skin. It is a true all-rounder.
To Melt: Chop into small 2cm cubes and melt in a Pyrex jug in the microwave on short 20-30 second bursts or on a double-boiler. Do not leave unattended (watch it carefully) as this base melts very quickly.
Colouring your base: This base accepts colourants readily, just keep in mind that its base colour is light yellow/orange from the hemp oil. Colours close to this work well. Try: yellow, orange, red, green or charcoal (black).
If you just want a pure and natural soap, just chop it off the block as you need it – no need to add any fragrances or colour.
Colour: Light Orange/Yellow.
Odour: Sweet and slightly nutty aroma.
Melting Point: 45-55 °C.
Product Consistency: This is a relatively soft base due to the added hemp seed oil. Take care when cutting as it will stick to your knife. It also sets up quickly and will form a skin if you don’t keep stirring. I find it a bit like working with candle wax and recommend giving it a really good tap once in the mould, to ensure it has reached all edges of the mould. You can still swirl and layer the base, but it takes some practise. Remember, this is a natural base and does not contain artificial ingredients that make it easier to work with.
Decomposition Point: 150°C. Do not over-heat this base as it is a natural product made from oils and will begin to smoke if you heat it above this point.
pH: 7.5-8.5. This is quite low for soap and will not strip your skin like higher pH soaps.
Packaging: Cellophane (derived from trees) and sticky tape plus a label.
